Union Budget 2017: Ask questions to Finance Minister using #MyQuestionToFM

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be answering the questions by the Twitterati regarding the Union Budget for the year 2017 – 2018 after he presents it in the Lok Sabha. The Finance Minister took to Twitter to share the message that he would be taking the questions from the Twitter users directly via hashtag  #MyQuestionToFM.

In a video message that he shared from the Twitter handle of the Union Finance Ministry Jaitley said, “I shall be presenting the Union Budget for 2017-18 tomorrow. I shall be happy to respond to your questions which you can send directly to me.”

The nation is riding high on anticipation before the Arun Jaitley presents the budget in the Parliament today. The analysts believe that the government is likely to go soft in introducing drastic changes in the existing system in wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation debacle. It is expected that the government would introduce lucrative schemes to boost the startup sector and provide a push to its digital India dream.

India is a smartphone economy and smartphones and cheap Internet connection is driving growth in the country. With the Union Budget 2017, the government is expected to lower the tax on the affordable smartphone segment and limit the service tax that the users have to pay for the services that they avail from the telecom operators.

While the consumer electronics and IT sector remain optimistic about the announcements, the entertainment industry remains a bit doubtful about its fate, given the fact that it remains in the back seat of the budget presentations. The fraternity believes that while there is a huge scope of rebates, reforms in the industry hardly make it to the priority list.
