After chirpy roles, Diana Penty to play NGO worker in Lucknow Central

Diana Penty, whose last outing was Happy Bhaag Jaayegi will now be seen in Nikhil Advani's Lucknow Central, which also features Farhan Akhtar in the lead role

Diana Penty, whose last on-screen outing was Happy Bhaag Jaayegi will now be seen in Nikhil Advani’s Lucknow Central, which also features Farhan Akhtar in the lead role. The film went on floors in November last year and marks the debut of director Ranjit Tiwari. Lucknow Central is a story of some jail inmates who bond over their common love for music and forms a band inside the jail, with help of an NGO worker.

Diana will be seen playing the character of the NGO worker in the film. This is for the first time that the duo will be seen together in a film and it will be interesting to see their equation on-screen.

Recently, the pictures of the sets were leaked on the internet and it looks huge. The two-acre set is designed to recreate Lucknow jail in Film City studio in Goregaon, Mumbai.

In an interview with DNA, Diana told that she instantly grabbed the opportunity when the film was offered to her and said:

I’ve always wanted to be part of stories that I feel strongly about and Lucknow Central is one such story. Playing a character that holds her own in a film that has some of the finest actors from our industry, makes it even more special for me.

Nikhil Advani revealed that the decision to cast Diana in Lucknow Central came from the fact that the actress has always selected interesting roles and films. He also added: She brings with her an element of quiet strength that lends itself well to the character we want her to portray.

The release date of Lucknow Central is not yet finalised.
