Mandana Karimi files for divorce, claims was forced to convert to Hinduism and treated like a prisoner

Mandana Karimi married Gaurav Gupta in January 2017 but has now filed for divorce claiming that her husband and his family members abused her

Mandana Karimi has filed a case against her husband Gaurav Gupta, the owner of a post-production company. She has alleged that her husband and his family members forced her to quit her acting and modelling job as it was not compatible with the family’s status. Mandana is seeking a divorce from Gaurav, whom she married in January 2017. Not only this, the Bigg Boss 9 contestant also made a shocking revelation by claiming that she was kept like a prisoner in a house in Juhu and wasn’t allowed to meet her friends or call them over. She has also filed a case of domestic violence and harassment against her in-laws.

According to reports in the media, Mandana has alleged that her in-laws insulted her and did not give her any kind of privacy. Mandana added that she was forced to convert to Hinduism before the wedding but she refused to do so. “I was thrown out of my matrimonial house seven weeks ago. I made desperate attempts to reconcile with them, but my in-laws didn’t allow me back. Gaurav has cut me off,” she told a daily. “The respondents (Gaurav, his parents, and brother) also warned me to quit pursuing my career in acting as they believed that my profession as an actor was not compatible with their family status in society,” she added.

Mandana and Gaurav met through a common friend and got engaged in 2016. The Iranian model came to India in 2012 to pursue a career in acting and modelling. Apart from her stint on the popular reality TV show, she was also a part of movies like Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 and Bhaag Johnny. Her sensual avatar on Instagram ensured she stayed in news from time to time.
