Arvind Kejriwal promises a 'mosquito-free' Delhi, asks for people's participation

After facing a humiliating defeat in the MCD polls, Arvind Kejriwal has affirmed that Delhi will soon be made "mosquito-free"

Arvind Kejriwal who is the Chief Minister of Delhi has affirmed that the national capital will soon be mosquito-free. He has asserted that the authorities are making strong efforts and coming up with new plans to get rid of the mosquito-borne diseases.

Calling out people’s participation, Arvind Kejriwal asserted that the initiative will be made people’s movement and it can only successful if people if effectively participate. “Delhi will soon be mosquito-free. Will will have to get rid of the diseases caused by the mosquitoes. It will be a mass movement and is only possible with people’s participation,” the Delhi CM tweeted.

He further stated that he had also held and an emergency meeting with the authorities to discuss the preventive measures and steps that can be taken to get rid of vector-borne diseases like Chikungunya and Dengue.

This response comes after Aam Aadmi Party’s humiliating defeat in the recently concluded Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. According to several media reports, Delhi’s deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia asserted that Arvind Kejriwal had instructed the government hospital to raise the number of beds by 20 per cent for better treatment of the patients. He added that the authorities will also make surprise visits to keep a check on the diseases and make sure that the directions given to the officials are implemented.

During MCD poll campaigning Arvind Kejriwal had said that people will only be able to blame themselves if they suffer from diseases like Chikungunya and Dengue if Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wins the MCD polls.
