ATS arrests 2 persons from Kanpur in connection with Bhopal-Ujjain train blast

On March 7, eight arrests were made after a joint operation by Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh police after the blast in Bhopal-Ujjain train

In a recent development related the Islamic State (IS) terror module burst in Lucknow, the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) has arrested 2 more persons from Kanpur in connection with Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train explosion and  Lucknow terror operation. Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General Law and Order Daljeet Chaudhary has confirmed the information.

Earlier today, according to several media reports, it was revealed that one of the arrested IS suspected, whose name is Gaus Mohammed, worked in the Indian Air Force and was the mastermind of the ISIS-Khorasan module. On March 7, eight arrests were made after a joint operation by Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh police after the blast in Bhopal-Ujjain train. In this operation, three of the accused —Danish, Mir Hussain and Atif Muzaffar—were arrested from Pipariya in MP. Two more, Mohammad Faisal and Mohammad Irfan, were nabbed from Jajmau near Kanpur, while another, Faiz Alam, was arrested from Etawah in UP.

However, the escaped suspect Saifullah, who was hiding in a house in Lucknow’s Thakurganj, was gunned by the Uttar Pradesh ATS. Before his encounter, a 12-hour-long operation was conducted to capture him alive. Saifullah was killed in an exchange of fire with the police. As per the reports, Saifullah was a devout member of the Kanpur-Lucknow unit of IS’ Khorasan module.
