Kerala law student who cut off 'rapist' godman's penis gets CM's support, no case to be registered against her

The Kerala police have decided to not register any case against the woman under self-defence sections. The police took the step as the woman is receiving praise and support from all the corners

A day after a Kerala law student cut off genitals of a self-claimed godman after he tried to force himself upon her, the police have decided to drop all the charges against her under self-defence sections. The police took the step as the woman is receiving praise and support from all the corners.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the police will not register any case against the law student under self-defence sections. After the incident came to light on May 19, from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to women commission everybody came out in support of the law student. The member of Kerala women commission Prameela Devi said that girl took was forced to take the step.

Calling it a brave step taken by the law student, CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said, “It’s a good thing the girl did” while talking to the reporters.

The incident occurred on May 18, when a 23-year-old girl chopped off the genitals of a  self-proclaimed godman  Sreehari alias Ganeshananda Theerthapada Swami, aged 54 who tried to rape her.

She ran away from the spot and dialled police control room. In a statement given to the police, the girl said that it was not the first time when the godman tried to rape her. For past seven years, he is raping her.

My father is paralyzed. My mother invited Swami for offering prayers three years ago. “He started raping me seven years ago. When he again tried to rape me on Friday night, I cut off his sexual organ,” said the girl

After the girl’s statement, the police has filed a complaint against the accused under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
