BMC Elections 2017: Finally Raj Thackeray to address rally today

Thackarey will hold rallies in Vikhroli and later in the evening in Vile Parle.

As the polling for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Elections 2017 will be conducted on February 21, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has started his campaign for the elections with two rallies in Mumbai. Thackeray will hold rallies in Vikhroli and later in the evening in Vile Parle.

Earlier, the firebrand leader Raj Thackeray planned to address 36 rallies for the civic polls across the state, but later restricted himself to 6. An MNS leader claimed that Thackeray delayed his rallies  due to health issues.

“Rajsaheb was unwell and so he could not address rallies. Though we are not expecting an outstanding result, we seek to win respectable number of seats,” MNS leader further added.

After Mumbai, he will be addressing rallies in Diva, Pune and Nasik and conclude it with one at Dadar near the party headquarter on February 18.

In this election about 2,275 candidates, which include 1,190 males, 1,084 females and one transgender, are in fray for the 227 seats. 13 political parties including Shiv Sena, MNS, NCP, Congress and BJP among others will contest in this civic body polls. MNS currently holds 28 seats in the BMC.
