Maharashtra civic polls 2017: It's an unprecedented victory, says CM Devendra Fadnavis on BJP's success

BJP achieved a massive victory in Maharashtra civic polls thereby retaining power in at least six civic bodies which are Pune, Nashik, Ulhasnagar, Akola, Nagpur and Amravati.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came up with flying colours in the in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and other civic bodies polls in Maharashtra on February 23. BJP gave a neck to neck competition to the former ally and current rivals Shiv Sena in the polls. After such a brilliant performance by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis addressed media in Dadar and appreciated the collective efforts of entire party workers and leaders.

While addressing the media, CM Devendra Fadnavis praised their success and said,”This huge victory for BJP is on the agenda of transparency.”

He also compared the last times’ result and thanked the people of Maharashtra for showing faith in BJP. He said,”Last time we won 31 seats, and this time we have crossed 80-mark in BMC. I believe it’s a big victory and the people of Maharashtra have shown faith in us.”

Responding to the resignation of Pankaja Munde’s resignation, he said,”It happens in elections that we either win or lose.”

On the other hand, the Congress Party had a major setback as they could only manage to win just 31 seats in BMC polls. Earlier this day, the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee chairman Sanjay Nirupam has submitted his resignation as he took the entire responsibility of party’s poor show in the Brihanmumbai Municipality Corporation elections.
