In a harrowing incident, a family of nomadic herders was attacked by a group of “gau rakshaks” in the state of Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. A video of the entire incident has now emerged on social media. At least 5 people were injured in the shocking incident that included a nine-year-old girl.
The video shows a group of men raising slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” and aggressively attacking the house and causing damage to it as the family members continued to scream and beg them to stop. However, the mercy plea did not seem to have any effect on the cow vigilantes and they continued to attack them. An elderly man also suffered injuries in the entire episode. You can also see the men pushing back the cops who tried to intervene. The group of men also allegedly set the shed ablaze.

According to reports, the attacked assumed that family was taking the cows for slaughter. However, reports suggest that the family was only transporting cows. The family further claimed that the mob not only attacked them but also took away the cow and calves with them. The cops can be seen standing their as spectators unable to control the group of men. 11 people have arrested in connection with the case. “Four members of the family have also been booked for illegally transporting cows and calves,” police official told PTI adding the family did not take the required permission to transport cattles.
