Afghan consular to Pakistan Zakir Adu shot dead by security guard

The guard and the consular official involved in an argument which later heated up and the guard open fired and killed Adu.

In a shocking incident happened at the Afghan consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, a private security guard shot a consular official to death on February 6. After the incident, the local police and the rangers took charge and has cordoned off the highly restricted Old Clifton area which houses several foreign missions.

As stated by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Azad Khan, the guard has been identified as Hayatullah opened fire at the third secretary, Zaki Adu, in the consulate lobby after they both involved in an argument which later heated up and the guard open fired and killed Adu.

However, the security officials have nabbed the security guard Hayatullah and have stated that the situation is under control. They also said that this shootout cannot be considered as an act of terrorism.

“We are evaluating the obtained CCTV footages and the process of collecting evidence is in the process,” the DIG said, adding that the consulate had been cleared.
