IPL 10 KKR v DD: Gambhir-Uthappa legacy continues, beat Delhi at Eden Gardens by 7 wickets

Kolkata retained their first position in the points table with 14 points and 7 wins in their account

Once again Robin Uthappa and his heroics turned out to be the mojo for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 32nd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 10 as Gaurav Gambhir & Co. registered their another victory in a row against Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Eden Gardens by 7 wickets. Kolkata retained their position in the top slot of the points table with 14 points and 7 wins in their account.

Once again Gautam Gambhir elected to bowl first after winning the toss and invited the Zaheer Khan led Delhi squad to bat first. Sanju Samson and Karun Nair, the opening pair, gave a terrific start to the team. With another half-century from Samson and Karun Nair’s 47, Delhi comfortbly put 160 runs on the scoreboard.

To defend the target of 161 runs, the well-doing KKR opening pair of Gautam Gambhir and Sunil narine came into bat. However, Narine couldn’t stay long at the crease as he was dismissed for 4 runs off 4 balls by Kagiso Rabada. At number 3, another in-form batsman, Robin Uthappa,came to accompany the skipper and continued his streak of powerful knock just like his previous game.

Both Gambhir and Uthappa, once again smashed the opponent bowlers together and added a total of 106 runs for the second wicket. The Delhi fielders dropped Uthappa’s catch in the over which gave him another life and he didn’t miss that. After hitting 4 sixes and 5 fours, Uthappa scored his second consecutive half-century which was also the fourth in this tournament. His stint came to an end after he got runout by Karun Nair after scoring 59 of 33 balls.

After his dismissal, KKR were 117 for 2 and they needed 44 runs off 46 balls. Manish Pandey joined the party while gambhir was heading towards his 4th half-century in this tournament. Without hitting a single six, the Kolkata skipper scored his half-century and completed 6000 T20 runs in his career.

By the end, when it KKR needed another 22 runs from 31 balls, Kagiso Rabada stroke back and dismissed manish Pandey for 5 off 4 balls. But by that time, more than half of the task was done. Finally, KKR defeated Delhi by 7 wickets and win another game at home.
