Youngster from Kerala, Sanju Samson on April 11 became the second youngest to strike a century in the Indian Premier League tournament to help his team Delhi Daredevils post a mammoth 205/4 against Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

Samson, who achieved the 100-run mark with a straight six off Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa during the 19th over, smashed five sixes and eight fours in his 63-ball 103.

Came into bat at number 3 position, Samson smashed two consecutive fours of Deepak Chahar upon his arrival. He completed his maiden T20 fifty off 41 deliveries.

Earlier, Rising Pune Supergiant skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and asked Zaheer Khan-led Delhi to bat first. Pune’s regular skipper Steve Smith was kept out of the squad because of an upset stomach, while in-form batsman Manoj Tiwary, who lost his father this morning was also not included in the playing XI.

Smith was replaced by South African Faf du Plessis while all-rounder from Maharashtra Rahul Tripathi came in place of Tiwary. Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa was also included in place of Daniel Christian.

However, the Delhi innings was an one man show from the Kerala youngster, who reached his maiden century before being dismissed one ball later by Zampa.

Brief Scores: Delhi Daredevils 205/4 (Sanju Samson 103, Chris Morris 38 not out, Rishabh Pant 31, Imran Tahir 1/24) vs Rising Pune Supergiant.
