Anoushka Shankar loses Grammy awards for sixth time

Supremely talented Anoushka failed to win a Grammy this year too.

The Grammys were a pretty happening affair with some mind-blowing performances and some well-deserved wins. It’s a little disheartening too see that this year too, our supremely talented Anoushka Shankar missed the trophy by just that much.
It was sixth time unlucky for the gorgeous Indian sitarist Anoushka Shankar, who failed to convert her World Music category nomination into a win yet again at the Grammy awards as she lost the trophy to world-renown cellist Yo-Yo Ma.

Yo-Yo Ma collected a crossover award in the best world music album category for ‘Sing Me Home.’ The classical songstress has received 19 Grammys to date and they’re well deserved!

Anoushka, the daughter of famous Grammy winning sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, received her first ever Grammy nomination at the young age of 20 but she is yet to bag an award despite multiple nominations. However, her late father has two individual Grammys wins as well as two in collaborations.

She was accompanied by her husband, British director Joe Wright at the music ceremony. She tweeted:

“Very excited that this man is my date to the #grammys today! It’s the first time he’s been free to join me. #husband #JoeWright #love,”

For the event, the musician chose a gorgeous red, high-slit velvet Sabyasachi Mukherjee gown.
