US teen sets dog on fire, posts video on Snapchat

Authorities are investigating an alleged case of animal cruelty in North Carolina’s Guilford County where a teenage girl attempted to set a dog on fire. While the girl used an aerosol can and lighter to create flames that she pointed toward a dog, her act was filmed by another teen friend of hers. They later posted the video on Snapchat showing them setting the canine on fire.

The shocking video is doing rounds on social media since the weekend. After the police were alerted of the video, animal control went to the dog’s home Sunday morning to begin their investigation, FOX8 reported.

The dog is being treated at the Guilford County Animal Shelter, where it is expected to be okay.

As per reports, the dog’s ’s fur was burned in the incident but it did not suffer serious injuries.

However, no charges have been pressed against the accused so far.

The original Snapchat video was posted to Facebook this weekend – the caption for the shocking video read: ‘She burnt the dog.’

Sgt. David Posten, with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said: ‘At this point I have no idea what led up to the act.  I just know what we saw with the video.’ ‘We did find some small sign of injury, consistent of singed fur,’ Sgt. Posten continued. Police are taking the matter very seriously. ‘These could be very serious charges, and because of that, we don’t rush into it,’
