Watch: Injured stray dog leads her rescuers for miles to a delightful adventure

The reason why a person would bring dogs or any pet home and then abandon them is beyond my understanding. Nothing is more heartbreaking than watching a dog who once had a home left helpless only because some person found it convenient for himself to do so. A girl found this Grey Hound with an injured leg, wandering around the market looking for food in Vera, Spain.

Looking at her condition, it was being assumed that the dog was abandoned by hunters. The girl named the dog Vera. She took her to a local vet for treatment who immediately treated malnourished vera’s broken legs.

 

During her treatment, the vet noticed that Vera was producing milk. Which meant, that she had recently given birth. Both of them were determined to now save her puppies too. But had no clue how to find them. They weren’t even sure if they would still be around or were taken away by people. So, after stabilising vera’s legs and making sure she could walk, both set off to a journey that ended on a beautifully astonishing note.

They took Vera at the same spot where they first found her wandering in the beginning. Vera kept leading them to an unknown destination. After walking for nearly two miles with a fractured leg, Vera stopped near a broken abandoned car.

“We chose to watch what she would do so we followed her for over 3km, ended up somewhere in the Campo in Vera, into a derelict house and there in that car…” the vet wrote in a Facebook post.

Yes, 10 little newborn pups waited right there for their mom to save them. Vera, jumped into the car and led the rescuers to the puppies.

Vera has now been reunited with her tiny babies and currently getting treated at the vet’s clinic. They are making efforts to find them a good, loving home.

Whoever said, there’s nothing like a mother’s love was telling the truth.
