Inventor and computer scientist Pranav Mistry has been appointed the CEO of STAR Labs, the research entity of Samsung Electronics. Born in Palanpur, Gujarat, Mistry dropped out from studying architecture to pursue a career in Computer Science & Engineering.
The 37-year-old computer scientist is best known for SixthSense, a wearable gestural interface which allows users to use hand gestures to interact with the physical surroundings using digital information. In his address, he emphasized how even as the information remains the same with the passage of time, the mediums or technologies will keep changing.
He was named ‘Young Global Leader 2013’ by World Economic Forum and GQ India’s ‘Most Powerful Indians’. He joins Google CEO Sundar Pichai, CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, Adobe’s CEO Shantanu Narayen and Rajeev Suri, the CEO of Nokia as Indians heading global technology giants
