An advocate of LGBTQ rights in India, hotelier Keshav Suri shared videos of his first drag performance on Twitter and Instagram on December 16. Keshav danced alongside his mother to ‘Kaisi Paheli Zindagaani’ from Parineeta.
In his first public drag queen avatar, Keshav swayed alongside his mother Dr Jyotsana Suri, wearing a shimmering gown, make-up and a blonde wig. In another video, his mother says,
“The lyrics of the song say kaisi zindagani. That is what it is, this zindagani and my life is Keshav. Life is a mystery.”
The videos have gone viral and here’s how people reacted on social media:

Keshav Suri is a staunch advocate of LGBTQ+ rights in India. He is one of the people who filed a petition seeking that Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code be struck down. The Supreme Court on September 6, 2018, partially struck down the section, thereby decriminalising homosexuality.
