BJP’s Unnao MP Sakshi Maharaj, who has quite a reputation for making inflammatory remarks, has said there is not enough space in India to adjust burial of 20 crore Muslims.
Speaking with ANI, Maharaj said, In India there are 2 to 2.5 crore Sadhus (saints) how much land for their cremation, while there are 20 crore Muslims for their burial entire India will not suffice (2-2.5cr sadhu hain sabki samadhi lage kitni zameen jayegi, 20cr Muslims hain sabko kabr chahiye Hindustan mein jagah kahan milegi).”
He also said that be it Kabristan or Shamshan, cremation should be done, no one needs to to be buried (Chaahe naam kabristan ho, chaahe shamshan ho, daah hona chahiye, kisi ko gaadne ki aveshyakta nahin hai).
Maharaj was reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks during his Fatehpur rally where he said that there should be equal space for Shamsaan and Kabristaan.
The firebrand leader is no new to controversies as he has made several comments in the past targetting minority community.
Earlier in January, Maharj was booked his statement that ‘increase in population was due to people who have four wives and 40 children’.
“This population rise in not because of the Hindus. Population has risen due to those who support the concept of four wives and 40 children,” he had said at an event organised to inaugurate a temple at Meerut.
