On the last day of assembly poll campaigning in Punjab, Rahul Gandhi arrived at Sangrur district where he targeted the Shrimani Akali Dal and Bharatiya Janata Party alliance and held them responsible for the deteriorating condition of Punjab.
Rahul asserted that Punjab was moving towards the growth under the Congress rule but as soon as the Badal government came into existence, the growth rate of the state started going horribly down. He also said that after getting the powers, the existing rulers said that they follow the teachings of Guru Nanak and run the government but they did exactly the opposite.
“Jahan Guru Nanak ji ne ‘tera tera’ ki baat ki, wahin aapki sarkaar ‘mera mera’ ki baat karti hai (While Guru Nanak always talked about betterment of the people, your government is only bothered about themselves),” said Rahul Gandhi adding that people who only think about themselves can never work for the upliftment of the people.

The Congress Vice President further claimed that the Badals have not done anything for the farmers of the state. Drug addiction has destroyed Punjab and its revenue and it is all because of the Badals.
Rahul confirmed that if Congress comes in power this time, then they will curb the addiction from the state and provide various opportunities to the youth who are hampering themselves on drugs. He said,” I will do whatever I’m promising. We will generate jobs for youth and for farmers, we’ll wave of the loans. As soon as Captain Amrinder Singh swears-in as the Chief Minister, we will bring a strict law against drugs.”
Meanwhile, he also targeted Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and accused him off supporting the evil powers in the state which are causing harm to the people.

Rahul Gandhi also met the locals of Sangrur and asked their support to the party for the upcoming elections which will commence of February 4.
