Ahead of the state assembly elections in Punjab, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Punjab to lead the election campaign of Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance on January 27.
PM Modi is likely to address a rally in Jalandhar today and another in Ludhiana on January 29.
Prime Minister will be accompanied with Union Ministers Arun Jaitley, Ramlal, Avinash Rai Khanna and Narendra Tomar in his Punjab tour. The central Ministers will also campaign for the BJP candidates.
Apart from PM Modi, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is also expected to address a rally in Amritsar today to support the election campaign of the party under the leadership of Captain Amrinder Singh.

Earlier on January 22, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley released the BJP’s manifesto for the upcoming Punjab elections. In the manifesto, BJP said that they would make sure free education till Ph.D. for girls from weaker sections of the society and guaranteed jobs for every family in the state if they come to power in Punjab.
Arun Jaitley further affirmed that BJP’s alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal will continue like before and the government would up with many more development plans for the state if they are allowed to govern in the state.
After releasing the portfolio, Jaitley also asserted that the party has high hopes of BJP-SAD alliance to come back to power again.
Polling in Punjab is scheduled on February 4 and the counting will take place on March 11.
