On February 4, the state assembly polls in Punjab and Goa commenced from 8 am and 7 am in the morning respectively. A large number of people, including men, women, old age, and youth, gathered at the polling booths to cast their votes.
Apart from the common voters, several known faces like Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Goa CM Lakshmikant Parsekar, AAP candidate from Jalalabad, Bhagwant Mann, comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi, cricketer Harbhajan Singh, the Badals, Navjot Sidhu and Capt Amarinder Singh, also arrived at the booths to exercise their right to vote.
By 1 pm in the afternoon, 56 per cent of the voter turnout was witnessed in Goa while 36 per cent voting happened in Punjab.
The arrival of youth and people with disability at the booths to cast vote were the most encouraging part about the polling. Also, following are the highlights of the polling day:
