As the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections are getting closer, Samajwadi party today announced the list of 191 candidates for the first three phases. The list also includes UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s estranged uncle Shivpal Yadav.
Shivpal is given the seat from Jaswantnagar, it is the constituency that he represents but his son Aditya kept out of the list.
Party’s new list presented by Akhilesh Yadav differs from the one that Mulayam Singh released previously. Gangster- turned politician Atiq Ahmed could not find a place in the party. Ahmed, was previously given the seat by Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The Jaswantnagar constituency comes in Etawah, the district which also covers Saifai, village of party chief Mulayam Singh.
As per the list, Azam Khan’s son Abdullah Azam is given a ticket from Suar in Rampur, Naresh Agrawal’s son Nitin Agarwal given seat from Hardoi.
Whereas talks on seat sharing between Samajwadi Party and Congress is still going on, SP’s senior leader Naresh Agarwal said, “CM is looking into details of Congress alliance, he’ll take final decision”.

On January 19, Samajwadi party’s national vice president Kironmoy Nanda announced that the party will contest on 300 plus seats in the upcoming polls, leaving the rest for the Congress. Their are total of 403 seats.
Nanda also added that there will be no alliance with Ajit Singh’s Rashtriya Lok Dal and the party will only ally with the Congress for the upcoming UP elections.
The seven phase assembly elections are beginning on February 11 and counting of it will start on March 11.
