UP elections: SP-Congress alliance on, Akhilesh Yadav offers 105 seats to Cong

The sources close to Congress said that the party will get 105 seats in the polls.

Ending all speculations, an alliance between Samajwadi Party and Congress has been sealed for the upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh. The sources close to the Congress said that they will get 104-106 seats in the polls.

For some time negotiation were going on over the seat sharing in the polls. While briefing the press on January 20, the Vice President of the Samajwadi Party Kironmoy Nanda told the press personnel that the alliance is not yet declared and is a personal opinion of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. He said,”We’ll fight on 300+ seats. The number of seats to be given to Congress is subject to adjustment and discussion after the alliance happens.”

He earlier had said that “We are planning to allot 54 seats to Congress or we may give 25-30 more to them after the discussion which is around 80 or so. But it will be cleared only after the alliance is announced officially.”

Today Congress senior leader, Ahmed Patel said, “It is Wrong to suggest lightweights were dealing on behalf of Cong. Discussion was held at highest level between UP CM Akhilesh Yadav and General Secretary, Congress in-charge and Priyanka Gandhi.

Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav will release Samajwadi party’s election manifesto today.

The seven phase assembly elections are beginning on February 11 and counting of it will start on March 11.
