As the Uttar Pradesh Elections are round the corner, CM Akhilesh Yadav and Congress Vice- President Rahul Gandhi today held a joint press conference in Lucknow. Rahul Gandhi while addressing to the media said, “The alliance will be a reply to the politics of hate as I want to end the politics of hate. It is a union of Ganga-Jamuna. The alliance will fulfill three P’S: Prosperity, Progress, Peace. Alliance will bring development in the state. Our goal is to defeat RSS and BJP ideology.
UP CM Akhilesh Yadav in the press conference said that this is a people’s alliance. Confident people will vote for the alliance and verdict will be against the note ban. There will be more development with Congress. Samajwadi and Congress are two wheels of a Congress and the development work will be faster now. People alliance will be successful.”
When asked if they are also planning for an alliance in Lok Sabha, Rahul said “Whether we will form an alliance in Lok Sabha or not is open to discussion.”
While atacking on BJP Rahul said This alliance is not opportunistic, will explain to Modi Ji,BJP & RSS that UP and its people are one and we will not let them create divide. On BSP chief Mayawati, Rahul said,” I respect Mayawati ji, when BSP was in power they made mistakes but my respect for her is intact”.
Priyanka has been of tremendous help to me and I have been so to her, if she campaigns or not is her choice, she is an asset to the Congress, said Rahul while answering Priyanka role in the elections.

Earlier, it was also announced that the Samajwadi Party will have 298 candidates, while the Congress will contest for 105 seats. Both the parties had ended the speculations that had been rounds for quite some times now.
