UP elections: This BJP ‘brahmachari’ leader is giving sleepless nights to Shivpal Yadav in Etawah

BJP's Manish Patre claims that Mulayam Singh Yadav's family was behind his brother's murder as they were not comfortable with his popularity within SP

He is young and though he is not a stalwart in the politics, he is surely giving sleepless nights to Samajwadi Party veteran Shivpal Yadav. Manish Yadav Patre, popularly known as ‘Patre bhaiya’ is Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate from Jaswant Nagar, which is Shivpal’s constituency too.

He is not the first in his family to enter politics. His brother, too, was a Samajwadi Party leader and was considered to be a youth icon. But in 2003, Manish’s brother Dalbir Yadav was killed. He claims that SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s family was behind his brother’s murder as they were not comfortable with his growing popularity within the party.

It was then that Manish vowed to enter politics. Ever since he entered politics, Manish has only one aim—to defeat Shivpal and avenge his brother’s death.

His determination is such that just after his brother’s death, he left his home and came to live in Jaswant Nagar. Not putting his family’s life in danger, he decided to continue his political career and face all the threats alone.

He has no plans of marriage as well. He feels that by getting married, he will do injustice to the family as well as the public. “If I get married then I won’t be able to give time to my wife/children and that would be wrong. Another reason for not getting married is that if I do so then I might not be able to pay as much attention to the welfare of the public like I do now,” said Patre.

“I am a celibate, and will always be a celibate so that I keep working for the society,” he added.

After the SP family feud, it seems that the voters have turned against Shivpal and those who were earlier afraid of his muscle power are now openly criticising him. “Shivpal has never done anything for Jaswant Nagar, people were afraid of him so they used to vote for him. But now Akhilesh has made him a toothless tiger. Voters should teach him a lesson this time,” said Ram Sevak, a farmer from the constituency.

Manish is extremely popular among the youngsters. From Etawah to Jaswant Nagar, young voters and students can be seen praising their ‘bhaiya’.

“He lost his brother, but still he chose to fight against those people who are infamous for crime. No politician visits constituency after winning, but Manish keeps visiting our village always and not just before the elections,” said Mukesh Pal, a student.

“He has been solving our problems from a long time, despite the fact that he is not an MLA. I don’t think that Shivpal should get votes, people should give Patre a chance,” said Manish Trivedi, a student.

Whether he will win or lose depends on the voters, but it seems that BJP’s Manish Patre is definitely giving a tough fight to Shivpal.
