UP elections 2017: No BJP ticket for Muslim candidates, but big win for party in minority dominated areas

From West to Awadh to Poorvanchal, BJP's saffron flag is being seen all across Uttar Pradesh, even in Muslim-dominated areas

It is the Bharatiya Janata Party’s flag flying high all across Uttar Pradesh today! With the party eyeing at a 300+ victory in the state, there is no denying the fact that the magic wand that Prime Minister wielded has shown even more than what the BJP itself imagined.

After 15 long years, the BJP is back in Uttar Pradesh. The jubilant BJP leaders have claimed the verdict has proved that the party has been able to break the caste barriers in the state. They are all praises for party chief Amit Shah too, who’s strategy seems to have done yet again done wonders for the party.

The campaign was led by Modi where party candidates campaigned in 306 of the 403 constituencies. The booth-level management at the campaigning level has ensured that the party gets the biggest victory in UP after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

From West to Awadh to Poorvanchal, the saffron flag is being seen all across the state. What is remarkable is that in a state that has always been dominated by caste politics, the BJP did not give a ticket to even a single Muslim candidate. Despite that, the party has been able to win with a big margin in most of the Muslim-dominated areas.

The BJP has established its win in minority-dominated areas like Badaun, Deoband, Mahoba, Mahmoodabad, among severa others. Even Samajwadi Party bastions like Mainpuri and Etawah have fallen into the BJP’s kitty.

Speaking after the massive victory, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath said that it is the good work by the Modi government and the strategy of Amit Shah that has paid dividends. “People have rejected the politics of appeasement and discrimination,” he said.

Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s office (PMO) Jitendra Singh also added that it is for the first time that people are rising above caste in Uttar Pradesh.
