UP elections 2017: Rahul Gandhi runs out of content to bash Narendra Modi

Rahul Gandhi invoked two Bollywood blockbusters to take a dig at Narendra Modi saying the PM promised "achhe din" like Shah Rukh Khan in but ended up being Gabbar Singh

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday addressed a public meeting in Dalmau, Rae Bareli. Yet again, he spoke about the same issues that he has been saying throughout the campaign leaving one of the view that the Gandhi scion has run out of content to bash Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking at the rally on Tuesday, Rahul invoked two Bollywood blockbusters to take a dig at Modi saying he promised “achhe din” like Shah Rukh Khan in “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge” but ended up Gabbar Singh of “Sholay”. However, this is not the first time that he has made the statement. The same statement was made by him just a few days back during campaigning for the elections.

The people present at the rally cheered for Rahul after listening to his comments, but many in the crowd felt ‘cheated’ by the Congress vice president. Speaking to InUth, 24-year-old Suraj Maurya 24, who had come here from a nearby village to listen to Gandhi, said: “There was nothing new in his speech. He keeps rotating the previous comments made by him.”

Similar were the thoughts of Shanu, who said that Rahul should tell more about Party’s plan instead of repeating the same statements.

“We come here from different villages to know about what our leaders are planning to do for us and not for laughing at PM or any other politicians.”

In a very dramatic fashion, Rahul questioned Narendra Modi on why is he “punishing the people of Rae Rae Bareli and Amethi”.

In his speech, Rahul also targeted Vijay Mallya and said that the Prime Minister came to his rescue and waived off the Rs 12 lakh crore that he owes to banks.

The fourth phase of voting in the Uttar Pradesh assembly election will take place on February 23, and the Congress Party’s family bastion of Rae Bareli will go to polls.
