A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted the newly formed Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance with an acronym of ‘SCAM’, it was the turn of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and political accomplice Rahul Gandhi to return the salvo.
PM Modi had snubbed Uttar Pradesh’s political parties saying “SCAM” is an acronym for Samajwadi Party, Congress, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati.
While Akhilesh gave a new definition to PM’s jibe which said, “A stands for Amit Shah and M for (Prime Minister) Modi. ‘SCAM’ stands for Save the Country from Amit Shah and Modi,” to which the crowd responded with a loud cheer. Rahul took it upon himself to rework the delivery.
At a public meeting in Kanpur, the Congress vice-president retorted saying, “S means Service for the poor. C means Courage. A means Ability. M means Modesty,” further adding that these virtues eluded the PM.
The Gandhi scion further lambasted the PM saying that whoever does something wrong finds only ‘scams’ around him. He also mentioned that this country can’t be run by a singular identity, adding that he can’t lie to the nation.
The 46-year-old further added that PM Modi’s demonetisation decision was taken to benefit a few businessmen. He said that the voters will teach him a lesson this time.
“You must not have heard PM Modi uttering Bihar’s name after losing the elections there. Similarly, after this assembly election, you won’t see him taking the name of Uttar Pradesh because BJP is definitely losing the elections,” said Rahul.
Meanwhile, Akhilesh also targeted PM Modi for including Mayawati in his newly formed acronym SCAM.
“I am surprised, he also took the name of bua (Mayawati). Earlier, they (BJP) have helped her in forming the government and now are accusing her of corruption. We also need to save the country from SCAM, which is Save the country from Amit Shah and Modi.”
