Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections, Samajwadi Party released the third list of candidates on January 23 and this list had the name of the acting Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav as well.
In a press conference conducted by the SP, the third list of candidates was announced and it was declared that Akhilesh Yadav will be contesting polls from Mubarakpur constituency. SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter-in-law will be contesting from Lucknow Cantt where she will be facing Rita Bahuguna Joshi from BJP as a strong contender.
While Durga Yadav will contest from Azamgarh constituency, Amrendra Nishad from Pipraich, Vijay Yadav from Gorakhpur rural, Rajesh Kushwaha from Gazipur, Sachindra Nath Tripathi from Zafrabad, Adil Sheikh from Didarganj, Surbhi from Kayamganj and Ravidas Mehrotra bagged ticket from Central Lucknow.
Previously this day, 168 candidates have filed nominations for the first phase of elections scheduled on February 11. In this phase, 73 seats are at stake for which nominations will be filed on January 24. While the last date to file nominations for the second phase is January 27. Till now, 16 candidates have filed their nominations so far.
Earlier on January 23, Samajwadi Party released its second list for 77 candidates in upcoming UP Assembly Elections. The list comprised the names of the candidates for Hamirpur, Mahoba, Chitrapur, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Allahabad, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Hamirpur, Gonda, Siddharth Nagar, Jaunpur, Gazipur, Bhadohi, Basti, Sultanpur, Maharaj, Mhow, Balia, and Sonbhadra districts of Uttar Pradesh. The elections in these districts will be conducts in Phase III to Phase VII of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
On January 20, Samajwadi party announced the first list of 191 candidates for the first three phases. The list also includes UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s estranged uncle Shivpal Yadav.
