After showcasing the united power of the Samajwadi Party and Congress party on the streets of Lucknow through a massive roadshow on January 29, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav hold another strength of power on the roads of Agra on February 3.
Ahead of the assembly polls 2017, the UP boys conducted a road show in the city of Taj with an aim to send out a strong message to the party workers, in order to encourage them, to prepare hard for the polls and ensure the defeat of rivals Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
On January 29, both the faces of the newly formed alliance went out for their maiden roadshow in Lucknow and were welcomed by a huge crowd of people. The boys shared warm handshakes and tight hugs during and after the road show, the campaign ran with a name ‘Vijay Yatra’ and the motive was to eradicate the ‘politics of hate’ done by the rivals. While Rahul named this alliance as a ‘Ganga-Yamuna Sangam’, UP CM Akhilesh termed the jodi as ‘two wheels of the cycle’. The campaign also carries a tagline — “UP ko ye saath pasand hai.”
Out of the 403 Assembly seats, the Congress will be contesting in 105 seats and the Samajwadi Party will field its candidates in rest of the 298 seats. Uttar Pradesh will be voting for a new state Assembly in a seven-phase election between February 11 and March 8.
Here are the highlights of the roadshow:
BJP jahan jaati hai har jagah krodh failaati hai, aur BSP toh maidaan mein hi nahi toh unke bare mein baat karne ki zarurat nhi: Rahul Gandhi
