While campaigning in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming state assembly election, Union Minister Uma Bharti slammed the present Samajwadi Party government for failing to do justice to the victims of the Bulandshahar gangrape case and also in maintaining the law and order situation across the state.
While campaigning for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Agra Rural, Hemlata Diwakar, The Indian Express quoted her as saying,”Rapists should be tortured in front of victims till they beg for forgiveness. During my rule in Madhya Pradesh, a rapist was tortured in a police station and the victim was asked to watch so she could get peace.”
“The rapists should be hung upside down and beaten till their skin comes off. Salt and chili should be rubbed on their wounds. That is what I had got done when I was CM,” she added.

“Police walo ne mujhe kaha ki didi manavadhikaro ka hanan ho jayega. Maine unko kaha manavadhikaro ka hanan manavo ka hota hai or ye log to danav hain. Inka to sir Ravan ki tarah kaat dena chahiye (The police told me my actions will violate human rights. I replied, the human rights are for humans, but these are demons. Their heads should be ripped off like Ravan’s),” she added.
