As Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2017 is just around the corner, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates and workers are being attacked randomly. In a latest incident, a BJP candidate from Badrinath Mahendra Bhatt was attacked by unknown persons on February 13. Bhatt has been admitted to hospital.
Mahendra Bhatt was selected to contest elections against Congress’ sitting MLA Rajendra Singh Bhandari from Badrinath.
In a single phase of polling, Uttarakhand will go to vote on February 15 for all the 70 constituencies.

Earlier in an other incident, a BJP worker from Kerala was thrashed to death in Thissur on February 12. BJP worker Nirmal was killed by unknown persons during celebrations at a local temple. The incident took place after he got into a fight with an unknown group of people during a festival at a local temple.

The police officials have also launched an investigation into the entire episode. The BJP unit of the state however, claimed that CPM workers could be behind the attack. Protesting the attack of party worker a strike has been called on February 16.
The results for all five poll bound states of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur, Goa and Uttar Pradesh will be held on March 11, 2017.
