BJP’s firebrand leader Yogi Adityanath could be the new chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Party’s state chief Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma could be given the post of deputy chief ministers, media reports say. Newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs in Uttar Pradesh will be meeting shortly in Lucknow to elect their legislature party leader.
Political circle is abuzz with probable names of state party chief Keshav Prasad Maurya and telecom minister Manoj Sinha, Yogi Adityanath and Home Minister Rajnath Singh for the coveted post. Earlier Bharatiya Janata Party registered a historic victory in Uttar Pradesh assembly polls. The saffron won on 312 seats while its allies also won on 12 seats taking the total tally to 325 seats.
Earlier, Union minister Manoj Sinha has shrugged off the speculation over his name as new cm, ” I never made a claim neither i am in any race (Na hi mera koi daava tha aur na hi main kisi race mein hoon),” he said.
Rajnath Singh has already stated that he is also not in the race of cheif ministership of Uttar Pradesh.
The jubilant BJP leaders have claimed the verdict has proved that the party has been able to break the caste barriers in the state and are all praises for party chief Amit Shah, who was the main strategist in the UP polls.
