The Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI), last week, announced that movies featuring Pakistani actors will not be screened in any single screen theatres in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat. This major announcement came just two weeks before the release of the film — Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which also star Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. The ban on the movie and Pakistani actors has come during the rising tensions between India-Pakistan following a Uri terror attack which killed 19 Indian soldiers.
However, the IMPPA has condemned the COEAI’s decision. As per the IMPPA Vice President and filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, if theater owners are scared of people harming them from being showcasing the film, they should approach the Maharashtra government for police protection.
Also, filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt, who is president of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India, met Mumbai police representative in order to ensure that the theatres screening Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, remain safe and secure. Produced by Dharma Productions and fox Star Studios, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is expected to release on October 28, which is the Diwali weekend. This is Fawad’s third film after Khoobsurat and Kapoor and Sons, while this one is the first one where Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya will be seen together.
While speculations are rife about the banning or not banning the film, InUth has come up with a small survey in different cities. We have asked about the views of youth on the ban of the movie and got mixed reviews as of now. Last week, we had the similar survey in Noida, where we got the ratio of 4:1 which is 4 not bans and 1 ban. This week he had the survey in Mumbai and got 4:3 that is 4 not bans and 3 bans. In the coming weeks, we will bring you some of the most interesting videos, surveying other cities as well.
