John Abraham posted a photograph on his Instagram account announcing the first day of his first Marathi production, Savita Damodar Paranjpe. After popular Bollywood celebrities, Priyanka Chopra and Riteish Deshmukh, who have produced Marathi movies in the past, John Abraham marks a debut in this space with Savita Damodar Paranjpe directed by Swapna Waghmare Joshi. John has always had a keen interest in regional cinema and has time and again voiced his opinion about its rich content.

Earlier, John has produced Bollywood movies like Madras Cafe and Vicky Donor, the latter was a huge box-office success. Not just John, actors like Shahrukh Khan, Akshaye Kumar, Ajay Devgn have also showed their interest in producing Marathi movies. In fact, keeping in mind the rising popularity of Marathi cinema, Ajay Devgn also produced Vitti Dandu (2014). Priyanka Chopra’s Marathi production venture was Ventilator which released in 2016, whereas Riteish Deshmukh made his debut, way back in 2013, with Balak Palak.
