After sharing the screen with none other than Dame Judi Dench in Victoria & Abdul, Ali Fazal is all set to star in Hollywood’s next Agatha Christie adaptation – Death On The Nile. And in this film, he will be sharing the screen with Wonder Woman herself – Gal Gadot. Kenneth Branagh, who was also at the helm of the successful Murder On The Orient Express, will be returning in the role of Hercule Poirot.
Also bankrolled by 20th Century Fox, this is the studio’s second adaptation of a Hercule Poirot mystery for the big screen. Branagh played the famous sleuth in the 2017 film, that had a star-studded cast including names like Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Michelle Pfeiffer, Johnny Depp and Daisy Ridley. The new one will reportedly star Armie Hammer, Letitia Wright and Russell Brand… and, of course, Gadot and Fazal.
Death On The Nile has earlier seen an adaptation in 1978, where the cast of actors included Maggie Smith, Mia Farrow, Bette Davis and George Kennedy, among others.
After breaking out in 3 Idiots via the short role of Joy Lobo, Fazal’s fame has transcended national and international borders. He starred in a brief role in Furious 7, and he’s gone on to raise his profile with Amazon Prime’s Mirzapur. Fazal famously buffed up for his web series debut, something we’ll get to see more of in the second season of Mirzapur.
Gal Gadot is expected to come back with Wonder Woman 1984, which will see her join hands with director Patty Jenkins. Gadot hasn’t been seen in a film, since 2017’s Justice League. And apart from the Wonder Woman sequel, the next project Gadot works on will have Ali Fazal with her.
