AR Rahman takes a funny jibe at demonetisation, Donald Trump in latest version of hit Urvasi Urvasi song

AR Rahman sang the song during the seventh edition of MTV Unplugged along with Suresh Peters who also lent his voice in the original hit.

AR Rahman is known for recreating his old songs. After his Humma Humma song from OK Jaanu went viral, now the Academy Award-winning composer has reinvented his popular song Urvasi Urvasi, which has created a lot of buzz. More than that, the song has references to the demonetisation move by the Narendra Modi government as well as US-President elect Donald Trump.

Rahman sang the song during the seventh edition of MTV Unplugged along with Suresh Peters who also lent his voice in the original hit. The composer had taken to the social media and asked for the contributions from people for the lyrics. After receiving more than 1,000 contributions, he selected four compositions. The song had more than one million views on Facebook.

The song was composed in 1994 for Kadhalan which was directed by Shankar. The film had Prabhudeva and Nagma in lead roles. Recently, Rahman had rearranged the Humma song for OK Jaanu which hit the theatres on 13 January, featuring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles. The song had received mixed responses. While some people had hailed the song, most of them had reservations.
