Tony Stark is adrift in space with ‘zero hope of rescue’. Clint Barton a.k.a Hawkeye has resurfaced in the neon-lit streets of Tokyo. Chris Evans has ditched his famous beard from Infinity War. The trailer for Avengers 4 or as it is being called, Avengers: Endgame, has left us with too many WHYs. And given the film is releasing only in April next year, it’s probably appropriate unlike the infamous Bollywood counterparts.
Taking place in the aftermath of Infinity War after Thanos has vapourised half of the creatures, Endgame (as the name suggests) is the apparent conclusion of Phase 3 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In the climax of Infinity War, many significant characters including Black Panther, Spider-Man, the Winter Soldier and Star-Lord disappeared into thin air, with a snap of a finger.
As the post-credits scene suggested, the Avengers will be rescued by Captain Marvel (played by Brie Larson). The Captain Marvel is scheduled for release, six weeks before Avengers: Endgame. Larson is playing the first female superhero (to get her own film) in the MCU, and after the overwhelmingly well-intentioned Wonder Woman restored some of DCEU’s lost reputation, one can hope for the Captain Marvel movie to be an important bridge to Avengers: Endgame.
Scott Lang (Paul Rudd, who disappeared into ashes at the end of Ant Man And The Wasp) making a comeback, poses a bigly HOW. We’ll just have to wait till April 26, 2019. That’s only 140 days away, but who is counting?
