10 Bollywood songs that make Dhinchak Pooja’s Selfie Maine Le Li Aaj less cringe worthy [Opinion]

If you thought Dhinchak Pooja's Selfie Maine Le Li Aaj Song was bad, just remember these 10 Bollywood songs

Dhinchak Pooja, the Selfie Maine Le Li Aaj singer has taken the internet by storm. Her song video has raked in a whopping 11 million views on YouTube. The day is not far when it edges past Salman Khan’s Radio song from Tubelight (16 million views) or Raabta’s Main Tera Boyfriend song (19 million views) in the days to come. Social media is abuzz with memes over the popular song that has received severe backlash from music pundits who don’t have a good opinion about it.

Recently, veteran playback singer Asha Bhosle had slammed Bollywood music in an interview to Film Companion. In a brief conversation, she said there is a dearth of songwriters and music composers. Well, her displeasure can be rightly gauged by the fact that Bollywood of late has witnessed some songs whose lyrics are just…I mean. Be it songs like Chaar Bottle Vodka from Ragini MMS 2 or Yaariyan‘s Blue Hai Paani, it seems the lyrics were penned just for the sake of it.

Here are 10 Bollywood songs whose lyrics will leave you gasping for breath.

Hookah Bar: The hookah bars are favourite hang-out spots among the youth. Every day, your Facebook timeline might be flooded with pictures of your friends at a random xyz hookah spot. But Akshay Kumar took romance to the next level in Khiladi 786 when he termed the love shown to him by Asin akin to Hookah Bar. And the opening lines of the track will just blow your mind, literally.

Chaar Bottle Vodka: If you happen to be an alcoholic and meet unknown relatives at a family function, they might ask what do you do for a living. Thanks to Yo Yo Honey Singh, you will have no issues describing your profession through this song.

Sunny Sunny: Roses are red, sky is blue. We have read this two-liner in greeting cards and everywhere. But Yo Yo Honey Singh gave a new dimension when he crooned Aaj Blue Hai Paani Paani from the film Yaariyan.

Tinku Jiya: Lesser said the better. This song from 2011 sleeper hit Yamla Pagla Deewana forced us to imagine that what would happen if love was a manjan (toothbrush) that would be rubbed against the teeth. It is indeed difficult for us to ill-treat romance like this.

Ice Cream Khaungi: How many times has your social media wall been flooded by your friends posting updates on their travel plans. In 2014, Palak Muchhal, Himesh Reshammiya and Yo Yo Honey Singh teamed up to deliver a song in 2014 film The Xpose that would cry out loud and express your desire to even have an ice-cream. Check out the lyrics of the song.

Aaj Raat Ka Scene Bana Le: This song is strictly meant for adults. Here, a girl vividly describes the night-out plan with her beau and also the arrangements she has done to ensure it a hassle-free date.

Po Po Po Po: We are not gonna say anything about the song. Check the lyrics yourself.

Hamara Dimag Kharab Hai: Maybe, the lyricist had written the song keeping Humshakals director Sajid Khan in mind. The lyrics of the song are self-explanatory.

Daddy Mummy: Featuring the gorgeous Urvashi Rautela, this song from the film Bhaag Johny was a hit among the youth. But we had hoped the ‘poets’ would turn up with something sensible.

Dekhega Raja Trailer: Sunny Leone essayed double role in 2016 adult comedy film Mastizaade. She shared screen space with Vir Das and Tusshar Kapoor in the flick that had full of double-meaning dialogues. So how could its music be left behind?

Do you know about any song that had such meaningless lyrics?
