A proud moment for team Dangal, Aamir Khan and Kashmiri actress Zaira Wasim who stole the thunder with her power packed performance in the film. The young actress has won the 64th National Film Awards. The jury of the National Film Awards 2017 was headed by none other than popular director Priyadarshan. The event was held in National Media Centre, New Delhi.
The talented actress who portrayed the role of young Geeta Phogat in the film charmed the audience with her innocent acting skills. Even Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan praised the young kid by saying that she has enormous potential to make it big in the industry. The young Kashmiri girl became a household name after her gripping performance in the film. The kid won the Best Supporting Actress Awards at the recently concluded National Awards.
The jury lauded Zaira for her strong portrayal of sportswoman on the big screen. The battle of a female athlete with the Indian society was showcased in the best possible way. On the whole, Dangal has broken some amazing box office records this year. Even in the award shows and functions, the movies has gone on to collect as many trophies as possible. People are already in awe with the collections of the film. The film became one of the biggest engrossers in the history of Indian cinema by earning nearly 550 crores. The lifetime collection of the film surprised all the critics. Before this, Aamir’s Dhoom 3 held the record.
Earlier Zaira Wasim was surrounded by controversies for her meeting with the J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. After that, she was dragged in a Hijab controversy. Apart from Zaira Wasim, Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja bagged the Best Film Award. Akshay Kumar also won gold in the form of Best Actor Award for Rustom. Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay won an award for its VFX whereas Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu’s Pink won for putting across a strong social message.
