Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt starrer Kaante turned out to be an instant success when it hit the theatres in 2002. The film revolved around a group of men who rob a bank in the United States. Fifteen years later, we learn that the film’s director Sanjay Gupta is gearing up for a sequel to the popular heist drama.
According to reports, Gupta has been planning the film for a long time. He wants Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham to be a part of Kaante 2.0. The film is currently in its initial stages and more details are awaited. The original film was based on Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs and evoked a positive response from both the critics and fans alike. Even the renowned Hollywood director praised the Sanjay Gupta directorial. “I think it was fabulous. Of the many rip-offs (of Reservoir Dogs) I loved Hong Kong’s Too Many Ways To Be No.1 and this one, Kaante. The best part is, you have Indian guys coming to the US and looting a US bank. How cool is that! I was truly honored. And these guys are played by the legends of Bollywood,” Tarantino was quoted by TOI as saying.
In 2015, Gupta was asked about his plans for Kaante sequel. He had tweeted that the film could not be made without his friend Sanjay Dutt.
