Guess what! Deepika Padukone will feature in Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming gangster flick. She will team up with her Piku co-star Irrfan Khan for the film which is based on Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai.
According to reports, Deepika will essay the role of gangster Rahim Khan alias Sapna Didi, who had almost killed dreaded underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. The screenplay has been written by Vishal Bhardwaj, while it will be directed by Honey Trehan. The latter has been associated with the filmmaker since a a long time.
“Honey has been associated with me since when I made my first film. It gives me immense joy to launch him as a director. Deepika had asked me to write a script for her. After reading it, she liked it a lot. We are in final stages of discussion with her,” the National Award-winning director told Bollywood Life.
It will be Deepika’s first collaboration with the Rangoon director. Irrfan dons the role of a local gangster. Also known as Sapna Didi, Rahim Khan had planned to eliminate Dawood during a cricket match in Sharjah. However, the underworld don got an air of the plan and he got her killed days before she could avenge her husband’s murder. The film is supposed to go on floors at the end of his year.

Deepika is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavati, which is scheduled to hit the theatres in November.
