Nucleya’s Paintra really caught our attention, but you have to watch the official trailer of Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz to really understand the gravitas of what he’s made. Of course every Anurag Kashyap film is looked forward to – especially after the monumental failure that was Bombay Velvet.

But since then, he’s bounced back (somewhat) with Raman Raghav 2.0. And now with Mukkabaaz, he looks in absolute control of his material as we enter the world of boxing in the hinterland. And he offers his take on the struggle of an Indian athlete, from fighting the system to the prevalent caste-bias in Uttar Pradesh.
The film has been co-written by its lead actor Vineet Kumar Singh, who has literally transformed himself into Uttar Pradesh ka Mike Tyson. Known mainly for playing the role of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s elder brother Danish in the Wasseypur films, Singh also worked with Kashyap in 2014’s Ugly.

It also features Ravi Kishen and Jimmy Sheirgill in what could be career-defining roles for the two extremely gifted and underrated actors in the scheme of Bollywood.
Mukkabaaz will also see the film’s leading lady Zoya Hussain making her debut, as the niece of Jimmy Sheirgill portraying Bhagwan Das Mishra. Here’s the official trailer of the film.
Mukkabaaz will release on January 12th, 2018. The new year for Bollywood is sure to start with a packed punch!
