Anushka Sharma is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Phillauri. The film, which is being produced by her own production banner, Clean Slate Films and Fox Star Studios is set in the Phillaur village of Punjab. The trailer of the film has already been received well. It’s the second film after NH 10 that Anushka is producing with brother Karnesh Sharma. After the critical acclaim that NH 10 received, expectations from Phillauri in terms of content is very high.
Anushka’s choices of films have always been quite distinct. She always maintained to steer clear away from films where her character doesn’t have a substantiate part to play in the narrative. Starting from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi which was her launch pad in the Hindi cinema to Band Baaja Baraat, PK, Dil Dhadakne Do, Sultan and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, all her films had her portraying unconventional characters. However, Anushka says that she doesn’t choose her roles by keeping in mind that she has to break certain stereotypes. She says her choices are not influenced by anything but reflect how she herself is. Talking about the same to a news portal, Anushka said:
I don’t do things to break stereotypes but I just follow what my heart says. I don’t get scared easily. If I want to do something and I feel it is correct I will do it. I don’t think what others will say or think about my decision.
She also talked about how her decision of producing films at such an early stage of her career was questioned. She mentioned:
When I decided to be a producer at the age of 25 and everyone thought I was crazy. They thought when my acting career is going good why am I getting into production. As usually actresses become producers when they don’t have anything to do (in acting) which I felt was bizarre and stupid.
Anushka and her statements always come across as logically fierce. It’s good to see how she always makes a point without being too loud.
