Are Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan the actual reasons behind Haseena Parkar being postponed again?

Shraddha Kapoor starrer Haseena Parkar will not be released on August 18. The makers reveal the actual reason behind the decision

Shraddha Kapoor starrer Haseena Parkar has been postponed yet again. It is the fourth time that the makers have deferred the release of the much-awaited biopic. However, the new release date has not been announced yet.

According to reports, the decision was taken by the film’s distributor Anil Thadani, producers and director Apoorva Lakhia as the current month witnesses too many releases. In such a situation, Haseena Parkar will face stiff competition from Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal (August 4) and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha featuring Akshay Kumar that hits the theatres on August 11. On the other hand, Haseena Parkar was pitted against Bareilly Ki Barfi, Newton and Partition 1947.

Sources told a leading news website that the makers are pretty confident about the film and do not want it to be lost in the clutter of new releases. Director Apoorva Lakhia said that the decision to postpone the release was taken so that Haseena Parkar gets enough screens and enjoys a worthy run at the Box Office.

Earlier, Haseena Parkar was supposed to clash with Jagga Jasoos on July 14. Later, it was decided to release the film on July 28, only to be deferred to August 18 so that it does not clash with Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor’s Mubarakan.

Directed by Lakhia, the film is a biopic of Haseena Parkar, sister of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Shraddha Kapoor essays the titular role whereas her sibling Siddhanth Kapoor plays Ibrahim. Recently, the director was asked whether the film glorified Parkar who handled her brother’s operations from Nagpada in Mumbai in his absence.

“We have not tried to glorify any character in Haseena Parkar. Whenever you make a film on a person whose family is alive, it is very important to stick to the maximum research you have done as a film-maker. I have to take both point of views i.e. Family as well as the police. I have gone through all crime records and have gone as back as 1979. I along with my writers have tried to get the right script and make the film as balanced as possible,” Lakhia said during the trailer launch of the film. Check out the trailer here.
