Baahubali 2 the SS Rajamouli directorial set new records at the Box Office. It became the first Indian movie to earn Rs 1000 crore at the Box Office globally. With the way Baahubali created records, it was evident that it would set a new benchmark. But as amazing the success of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is, it doesn’t seem the movie will touch the Rs 2000 crore mark. Trade experts have weighed in on this issue and explained why Baahubali 2 touching the 2000 crore mark looks unlikely.
As of now Baahubali: The Conclusion is behind Aamir Khan’s Dangal. The sports drama stands at a total of Rs 1930 crores, and it is still running in China. The movie will be screened in the neighbouring country till the first week of July, obviously adding to the numbers. In the case of Baahubali 2, the movie is still running in theatres but not to packed ones. The occupancy dip in Baahubali hints that maintaining the stronghold would not be possible anymore. With the release of Tubelight, Salman Khan much-awaited movie this year, the dynamics at the Box Office would definitely change.

Speaking about the same, a trade expert told a leading daily, “For it to come close to Dangal, it would have to continue to perform excellently in the domestic circuit, and perform better than Dangal at China box office to achieve the numbers. Even though the film has successfully completed 50 days and is running in over 1000 screens across India, the occupancy is not houseful anymore. It is hardly getting 30 percent occupancy and also the terms of distribution are such that the theatre gets 70 percent while the film gets only 30 percent.”

However, it should not be forgotten that Baahubali: The Conclusion is releasing in China soon. The collections would obviously shoot up but expecting the same kind of performance as Dangal would be an overstatement. Let us see what fate has in store for this movie.
