SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali: The Conclusion is set to release on April 28. The fans have been waiting for two years for the much-awaited sequel. Here’s another news which will bring smiles to the faces of the makers.
According to a ticket booking website, the film has sold a whopping 1 million (10 lakh) tickets online in just 24 hours. It also eclipsed the previous advance booking record held by Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal. “We have sold more than 1 million tickets across several languages. Although Baahubali 2 is a South Indian language film, but the kind of response from Hindi-speaking audience is highly encouraging,” Ashish Saksena, chief operating officer, BookMyShow, told Indian Express website.
Baahubali 2 is releasing in more than 8,000 screens across the world, out of which 6,500 screens will show the historical fiction. The theatrical rights of the film have been sold for more than Rs 500 crore whereas the makers have earned Rs 51 crore from the movie’s TV rights. According to reports, the film’s Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam versions will hit around 1,100 screens in the United States.
Directed by Rajamouli, Baahubali 2 witnesses Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Tamannah Bhatia and Anushka Shetty reprising their roles from the previous version. Sathyaraj returns as Kattappa whereas Ramya Krishnan reprises her role as Queen Sivagami. The first instalment released in 2015 was one of the highest grossing Indian films. The film has been produced by Arka Entertainment whereas Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions will distribute the Hindi version of the film.
