Nawazuddin Siddique-starrer Babumoshai Bandookbaz is all set to release on August 25. The action thriller has already generated a lot of buzz for its intimate scenes, which the censor board doesn’t seem to be too happy about. The censor board has ordered 48 cuts in the film for it to even be eligible for an Adult (A) certification. Helmed by Kushan Nandy, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz also features Bengali actress Bidita Bag, Shraddha Das, Murli Sharma and Divya Dutta in pivotal roles.
According to the reports published by a leading daily, Kushal claimed that Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) handed him a list of cuts, which include scenes that have cuss words, kissing and intimacy, that it wants to be removed from Babumoshai Bandookbaz.
Reacting to the proposed cuts in the film, the CBFC chief Pahalaj Nihlani said: “That’s our job as per rule.”

Meanwhile, Kushal has approached the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) against Nihalani’s orders. He said “It is the responsibility of the state and the law enforcers to see that kids don’t watch adult films. Yet, we have been asked to remove certain (cuss) words from the dialogues of a contract killer. My film is based in Uttar Pradesh and it will sound weird if I muffle words.”
Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is going to be Nawazuddin’s fifth release of the year after Raees, Haraamkhor, Mom and Munna Michael. In the film, Nawazuddin will be seen essaying the role of a contract killer who kills with brutality murders his victims, sometimes even chasing them on a busy street. Besides being a ruthless hit-man, the character is also a womaniser giving leeway to have a few intimate scenes in the film as well.
CBFC has infamously been embroiled in innumerable controversies regarding proposing a great number of cuts, banning the release of movies and even censoring trailers.
