How does it feel when family relations take a backseat in the journey to become successful? What happens when a void is created in a bid to fill pockets with money? Saif Ali Khan’s upcoming movie Chef talks about this problem which almost everyone is facing these days and how to solve it. An adaptation of Bradley Cooper’s 2015 release of the same name, the film is directed by Raja Krishna Menon, who had directed Airlift.
The trailer of the film released a short while ago and it seems entertaining. In the film, Saif plays the role of a sous chef who wishes to mend relations with his son. The fact that he kept busy with his job did not really give him time to spend time with his family and made relations sour. Just when his son started developing affection towards him, Saif had to get back to work, leaving a lot of unfinished business behind. How Saif tries to clutch onto relationships which ignored earlier, forms the crux of the story.

From the trailer, Chef seems as a movie which would take you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions. The film touches on complex relationships and as mentioned earlier, and shows the mirror to what earning money has become. Saif, who was last seen in Rangoon, plays the role of the father and it seems he has done a commendable job at it. His portrayal seems quite relatable and the one-liners in the trailer take the cake.
This is not the first time that Saif is playing the role of father, he has done this in the past in Ta Ra Rum Pum. But this time his character is quite different than the earlier one, and his Saif’s fans would be glad to see him in this role.
