The coming Friday has a treat for cine buffs as Badrinath Ki Dulhania is releasing then. The Holi release of Bollywood, this film created a buzz since it was announced. The trailer of the film that was released a few days ago got positive reviews from viewers and critics. Many were of the opinion that this film would be refreshing in terms of content. Before the film releases, here’s everything you need to know about it.
About the film
The film is the second instalment of a franchise which started with Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania in 2014. Both the previous and current films have been written and directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Dharma Productions
Cast
Varun Dhawan plays the role of Badrinath Bansal, a boy from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh who falls in love with Vaidehi Trivedi essayed by Alia Bhatt. The film also stars Sahil Vaid, who played Varun’s friend Poplu in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Besides this, Gauhar Khan and Girish Karnad also feature in the film.
Music
The music of this film has generated immense popularity before its theatrical release. The songs have been composed by Amaal Malik, Tanishq Bagchi and Akhil Sachedva. The iconic song Tamma Tamma from the film Thanedar which was composed by Bappi Lahiri has been recreated by Tanishq Bagchi for Badrinath Ki Dulhania. There is a romantic track named Humsafar sung by Akhil Sachdeva.

Controversy
The film found itself in controversy when certain religious groups objected to the word Badrinath used in the title. Badrinath is also a pilgrimage site for Hindus and hence few took offence with the title.
Another controversy erupted when veteran choreographer Saroj Khan who directed the song Tamma Tamma featuring Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit spoke ill things about the newer version. She said the recreated version was not anything like the original number.
The Censor board also asked the producer of the film Karan Johar to get a Non-Objection Certificate from the matrimonial site Shaadi.com. The name of the site has been cropped in the entire film and the CBFC has told the filmmaker to first submit an NOC from the concerned website and only then they will allow the makers to use the name or reference in Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
Box office prospects
The film is expected to collect between Rs 10-15 crore in the first weekend
